Lessons in Chemistry

This book is an incredibly delightful read, and don’t just take our word…we haven’t met anyone yet who has read it, who hasn’t loved it.  It’s been a popular book club selection for a reason.  The main character, Elizabeth Zott, is so inspiring as she fiercely argues for women’s advancement in a 1960’s, male dominated world, and does it with such ease and conviction.  She is a chemist by training, but out of necessity and some tragic turns, begins hosting a cooking show on television that strikes a chord with her female audience by tapping into their intellect and the recognition that cooking and putting dinner on the table is not just another mundane, “house-wife” role.  It’s witty and funny, and an all-around enjoyable read.
